At Kennerley Children’s Homes we have a unique and exciting job opportunity available for just the right people. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate couple to live full time in one of our cottages and to care for three of our wonderful children. We believe that all children have vast potential and with the right carers our children thrive and develop positive lifelong experiences and memories. We are seeking a couple who are self-motivated, enthusiastic and creative. It is preferred that the successful applicants will have knowledge and experience working with children in an out of home care setting. Cottage Parents- Guide for Applicants
Applications need to contain information relevant to:
- Experience in looking after children
- Any ideas to do with assisting with developmental needs such as social, recreational, education
- Ability to communicate with children of all ages
- Knowledge of a healthy diet
- Being an organized person in the home
- A commitment to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
- Describe why you are interested in child care
- Work experience
- Experience in dealing with government or private agencies
- First aid
- Property maintenance
- Marital or partner situation (one needs to be available out of school hours)
- Training and/or qualifications
The package includes a cash component, a fully serviced home, motor vehicle, power, heating, phone (except private), 7 weeks annual leave, long service leave.
Cottage parents have the support of Kennerley’s Child Development Officers and carer support staff. Applicants need to be available for training prior to appointment and for a police check and medical reference check.
