On 30th June 2020, Kennerley was officially awarded Safeguarding Children Service (SGC) accreditation by the Australian Childhood Foundation. This means that anyone working with us, whether they are families, contractors, service providers, interactions are characterised by our underpinning SGC policy and procedures.
If you want to work for us, volunteer or become a foster carer, you will need to undertake an induction, complete online training, commit to safeguarding children through a commitment statement, and make sure you have a current WWVP card. Our policies require recruitment screening questions so that you understand our expectations by putting children and young people’s safety first.
Child-centred organisations exist because of a strong desire to provide children and young people with opportunities and experiences that enhance childhood and shape their development and growth. As a third-party accredited safeguarding organisation, we take our responsibility to keep children and young people safe seriously. We take care to nurture their wellbeing because when we do it well, we know that the impacts for children and young people are incredibly positive and meaningful.
When we initially explored our options for accreditation, we were not satisfied with a self-audit aswe wanted to meet the highest standards possible. We commissioned a reputable organisation, the Australian Childhood Foundation, to oversee our accreditation formally. We are gratefulfor their guidance and support throughout the process.
